Hey!

At the beginning of February, we invited the AJ, four UK architects and three UK Lighting Designers to visit our base in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.The crew toured our High Tech campus, the Lighting Application Centre and a working production line in Aachen, Germany.

Architects included;

and lighting designers;

We showed the architects how low energy light sources could help them retrofit buildings and reduce the environmental impact of new build schemes and asked the lighting designes to help decode the various products that we encountered. A great blend!

Our May edition of Luminous Magazine is coming out soon with an article about this Inspirational Trip and insights from Ludovico Lombardi & Dominic Harris on Lighting-Architecture Integration.

You can see the results of the above #DesignDay at an exhibition in The Architecture Foundation (136-148 Tooley St, London SE1 2TU) from Thursday, 12 April 2012 to Thursday, 26 April 2012, 12.00pm – 6.00pm.

At the launch of this exhibition on Thursday evening, we will have a guest appearance from Paula Rainha of the Philips Light World Tour in which Paula travelled from city to city around the world to find the most inspirational lighting installations & designs. Some images from the tour will be on show and Paula will also be available to chat & share her experiences and opinions on how lighting can create a liveable city.

"Nowadays a significant part of time we spent in cities are dark hours. This means that the way a city is experienced also depends on how it is illuminated. Lighting plays an important role not only in the recognition of the cityscape but also on the experience of each individual in their own environment through public lighting, illuminated architecture or public light art. This can see be seen all over the world, after all, light is an universal language."
